Team Member Spotlight: Lisa Lonardi
In her role as Director of Talent Development, Lisa helps create opportunities that support employee growth, professional development, and career advancement across the Bank. She is the coordinator of the Mid Penn Bank Internship Program, which welcomed 30 college students this year to gain hands-on experience in departments throughout the organization. Lisa ensures each student leaves the summer better prepared for the workforce, with industry knowledge, real-world experience, and professional connections. In 2025 and 2026, the program was recognized by the PA Chamber Foundation as one of Pennsylvania’s Greatest Places to Intern.
What are your main responsibilities as Director of Talent Development?
I am responsible for partnering with employees and managers to support professional development, drive effective engagement with Mid Penn University, oversee talent assessment initiatives, and coordinate the Bank’s young professional development programs. Through these efforts, I help foster employee growth, strengthen organizational talent, and support career development across the organization.
How will talent development impact the goals of the company for 2026?
Building a high-performing, future-ready workforce enables us to grow both individually and as an organization. Our employees are our most valuable asset, and we recognize the importance of investing in their growth through development planning, career pathing, education, and mentorship opportunities. By fostering continuous learning and professional development, we empower employees to reach their full potential while supporting the long-term success of the organization.
Why did you create the Mid Penn Bank internship program?
I redesigned the Mid Penn Bank Summer Internship Program in 2019 with the goal of creating a meaningful and rewarding experience for college students while delivering value to the organization. The program was intentionally designed to build a pipeline of future talent by identifying, developing, and attracting emerging leaders who could transition into our professional development program and ultimately build successful careers with Mid Penn Bank. Through enhanced learning opportunities, executive exposure, networking, mentorship, and hands-on experience, the program has become an important component of our long-term talent strategy and workforce development efforts.
What is your favorite part of your summer with the interns?
The highlight of the program each year is our community volunteer event. It reflects our commitment to being community-focused and provides interns with the opportunity to experience our culture in action. It also gives me the chance to spend time with the interns in a more casual setting, allowing us to build stronger connections.
What is your best piece of advice for navigating a career in the banking industry?
Take the time to network, build meaningful relationships, ask questions, seek feedback, and remain curious. Stay open to learning and take advantage of every opportunity to grow both personally and professionally.
